Watch as Tommy Thompson gets the date of 9-11 terror attacks wrong (VIDEO)

Speaking to the Lake Country Area Defenders of Liberty in Oconomowoc on June 4, former Wisconsin governor and current Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tommy Thompson explained his responsibilities as head of Health and Human Services Secretary in the aftermath of the September 18, 2001 terror attacks in New York City.

Wait….what’s that??? The terror attacks actually happened on September 11, 2001? Well someone might want to tell Tommy Thompson!

  1. I wonder if Sept. 18 is an important day in his life for some other reason. It would make things look a bit better if this was just a half absent-minded statement.

Other than that, I don’t think there’s a six year-old in this country that couldn’t tell you the correct date.

The test will be to see if he forgets that he’s running for the senate. If he does… then he’s fine and we should leave him alone!

  2. rachael maddow gave a lot of play to rick perry’s bizarre “maple syrup” speech in new hampshire during the primaries. maybe if tommy wins the nomination, she’ll show the lambaeu field “speech.” won’t hurt to forward it to her.

  3. Ummm…I hate Tommy Thompson as much as anyone but he was clearly referring to the start of the anthrax attacks on the US. This is a highly misleading post unfortunately.

“The 2001 anthrax attacks in the United States, also known as Amerithrax from its Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) case name, occurred over the course of several weeks beginning on Tuesday, September 18, 2001, one week after the September 11 attacks.”
