An Ohio man who says he once lost his job and introduced President Barack Obama at a rally on Friday had been accused of stealing trade secrets by a former boss.
Court records show that Daniel Potkanowicz and a business partner in the Youngstown area were ordered to pay $500,000 to Clearview Window & Door after a judge ruled in 2009 that they had violated trade secrets.
What I’d like to know is how the fact that Potkanowicz was ordered to pay a half million dollar judgment for stealing trade secrets seems to have eluded the Obama campaign, because that kind of thing seems like it would be easy to find with some basic research.
Stealing trade secrets is standard procedure in corporate espionage. But the victimized company evidently had a lot of political pull locally to get a $500K judgement. Maybe our President was set up again.
Perhaps instead of having a lot of political pull, the company was able to prove the value of the trade secrets stolen (and the company’s losses) as being $500,000.
Ultimately though, this is a failure of the Obama campaign to properly vet the guy before putting him onstage.
