“Are you better off now than 4 years ago?”
That’s a question I’ve seen asked at several conservative blogs, as if to explain why President Barack Obama doesn’t deserve another term in office.
While the answer may seem as simple as a straight “yes” or “no” answer, I don’t believe the answer is that simple. If I had to answer that question, I’d say I’m most definitely NOT better off than I was four years ago, but I don’t blame President Obama. If I were to cast blame for not being better off now than I was four years ago, that blame would fall on Gov. Scott Walker, whose assault on public employees here in Wisconsin has had a tremendously negative impact on my ability to take care of my family and stimulate the economy – because after all, it’s the middle class consumers who really stimulate the economy, as opposed to the so-called “job creators” that are really nothing more than a bunch of super-rich folks who conservatives always want to give more tax breaks to.
So am I better off than I was 4 years ago? No, but I blame Scott Walker.
