From my email inbox comes news of Jefferson County DA Susan Happ’s candidacy for Attorney General.
Jefferson County District Attorney Susan Happ announced today that she will run for Wisconsin Attorney General. Surrounded by law enforcement officials, supporters, friends and family, Happ pointed to Wisconsin’s bitter political partisanship and her years of prosecutorial experience as reasons she decided to run.
Retired Jefferson County Judge Jacqueline R. Erwin introduced Susan Happ saying, “I fully endorse and support the campaign of Susan Happ for Wisconsin Attorney General. I believe her organizational skill, uncompromising standards, common sense and law enforcement trial experience make her the best candidate for this important position. We have seen Ms. Happ’s born-and-bred Wisconsin values first hand and commend her as Wisconsin’s Attorney General.”
“I am running for Attorney General because I care about Wisconsin. I care about our families, our communities, and most importantly, I care about Wisconsin’s future. Wisconsin needs a leader who will put hard working Wisconsin families first. As Jefferson County District Attorney, I’ve been that kind of leader. Right now, too many of our leaders have let partisan politics and divisiveness come before the priorities of Wisconsin families”, said Happ.
Pat Hack, who was joined by other members of the Hack family, spoke about Happ’s commitment to seek justice for the victims, and the punishment of Edward Edwards in the double homicide involving his brother.
“I learned first-hand that Susan will not back down from a tough case. When Susan convicted the man who killed my brother over 30 years ago she was able to bring justice and closure for my family.
Susan treated our family with great compassion, and the criminal with great conviction. She handled the case in a manner that saved our family extra pain and grief, and saved the people of Jefferson county, and the state of Wisconsin, a lot of money.”
Born and raised in Jefferson, Wisconsin, Susan is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar, Jefferson County Bar Association, Rotary Club of Jefferson and St. John’s Catholic Church in Jefferson. Susan serves as legal counsel and is Vice President of the Board of Directors for Tomorrow’s Hope, Inc. of Jefferson. She was first elected as Jefferson County District Attorney in 2008 and re-elected in 2012.
