  1. In addition to “Vietnam=Syria?” there are other applicable phrases.:

“Damned if you do, damned if you don’t'”

    “Screwed either way”

    “There is no middle ground”

    ” Flip the coin”

    “Pick your poison”

    “Sunday morning quarterbacking”

    “There are no winners”

And my favorite for making a tough call, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?”

  2. Thank you — deep gratitude for all who protested and all who were dragged into service by the draft and who burned draft cards and all who got so fed up we forced an end to the trains taking “cannon fodder humans” to “deployment” — WTF. My mom — may she rest in peace — an army nurse in WWII in New Guinea, a public health nurse in SE Wisconsin ’til she retired — though proud of her service was absolutely opposed to war, the military stupidity and corruption — and had the text of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech one year before he was assassinated in America, right up front on her bookshelf. PEACE. Imagine.

    1. Parisian anti-violence banner: “MEME PAS PEUR” —
      That libertarian web site opines:

“Everyone is for peace, in theory at least, but there is no one group of Americans especially disposed to work for it, outside of small religious groups such as the Quakers and the Catholic Worker movement.”

World needs to get it together, we are one and the same human being, except
some have weapons of war in their hands and promote violence.

      PEACE.
