Ron Johnson’s COVID Conspiracist, Misuses The Concept of God.

You have probably seen Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson’s take on immunity and the place of God in mankind’s struggle with COVID-19. But here’s a bit of his rant:

“Why do we assume that the body’s natural immune system isn’t the marvel that it is?” “Why do we think that we can create something better than God in terms of combating disease?”

Well…if one is a person of faith: didn’t God create COVID? Didn’t God create our ability to develop things that keep us safe? Why did God permit us to create vaccines if he didn’t want us to use them?

  1. Actually vaccines make use of the body’s natural immune system — that’s how they work, by giving the immune system a chance to look over and prepare for a virus before the “pop quiz” of an actual infection. And just like students who have studied the material beforehand, an immune system that’s already been exposed to a virus (or any foreign antigen) responds faster and more strongly when faced with the question for real.

Monoclonal antibodies, on the other hand, are an attempt to cut the body’s natural immune system out of the picture by doing its’ work for it. And I’m not even sure how anti-viral medicines work. Funny that Johnson would prefer both of those options over vaccines — truthfully they should only be used when the immune system is overwhelmed or goes wrong for some reason.
