After every mass murder we see the same message from supposed Second Amendment defenders: Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. This simplistic notion ignores the fact that guns are far more impersonal weapons than nearly anything else available to an individual and make it far easier to distance themselves from their violent acts and provide a more efficient method to kill dozens of people at one time.
But…from a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article following the massacre at the spa in Brookfield comes this telling statistic on the availability of guns and the increased probability of homicide:
“We know the presence of firearms in an abusive home increases the chance of homicide by six to eight times,” said Tony Gibart, policy coordinator for the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Wait – that spa was a gun free zone! There unfortunate victims should’ve been 100% safe in there. Too bad the nutcase didn’t obey the sign.
