McCain’s Had a Bad Week

It’s been a bad week for Sen. John McCain. First he was raked over the coals by George Will, who’s anything but a liberal, then he was absolutely demolished by David Letterman while simultaneously being exposed yet again as a liar and a political opportunist. However, it’s only Friday, and Sen. McCain’s week isn’t quite over yet.

Earlier today, Kathleen Parker of the National Review – who coincidentally is not noted for her liberal viewpoints – took a little time to rake Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin over the coals as a “problem.” Indeed, the title of the column written by Parker is “Palin Problem”, and the subtitle is “She’s out of her league.”

Here’s the money quote from Parker’s column:

It was fun while it lasted.

Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.

No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I’ve been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I’ve also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

Yeah, after watching Palin’s poor performance in the two Katie Couric interviews, my cringe reflex is exhausted as well, and to be honest, I was a little embarrassed for Gov. Palin, because she doesn’t really understand how out of her league she really is.
