Packing heat for canvassers

On March 21st, folks who support the current administration are being asked to host or attend a Pledge Project Canvass to build support within their communities for President Obama’s approach to renewing and rebuilding America. Individuals are being asked to knock on doors to ask their neighbors to get involved, and Dad29’s proud to announce he’ll be toting his .357 Magnumas he answers the door. Now I don’t know Dad29 personally, but I doubt he’s worried about his personal safety when faced with granola-eating liberals, leaving me to wonder why else he would carry his .357 as he answers the door. Call me a cynic, but I’m betting Dad29’s desire to pack heat if Obama supporters come to his door has something to do with his desire to intimidate those folks.

Predictably, Paddy Mac from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel jumped all over Dad29’s blog entry, because he’s all about linking to “good” reading on the Web; never mind the fact that Paddy Mac’s definition of “good reading” is more than a little skewed.

  1. A conservative nut case trying to terrorize people with thinly veiled threats of deadly violence? Who’da guessed, coming from that classy bunch?! As NRCC chair Pete Sessions (R-TX) said, they do model their “insurgency” tactics after those of the Taliban (http://tinyurl.com/dle84o).

Not surprising, though. I ran across a similarly veiled death threat or two while canvassing for Obama last fall. Pukes like that don’t intimidate me, and never will, because such obvious attempts to overcompensate for their shortcomings and failures are really more sad than anything else.

  2. Just one man’s opinion here: This is an example of why the GOP is often seen as a divisive bunch of haters. Instead we should be inclusive and be the party of freedom, liberty and less government.

But I could be wrong, I often am.
