John Edwards, twice a Democratic presidential candidate, has acknowledged a federal inquiry into his campaign funds, specifically whether his campaign funds were used improperly. Several nonprofit and political groups that have been linked to Edwards have been under public scrutiny, and the investigation has also been scrutinizing payments Edwards’ political action committee made to Rielle Hunter, with whom Edwards had an affair. In a statement obtained by the Associate Press, Edwards has denied any impropriety.
While Edwards is obviously innocent until proven guilty, it wouldn’t surprise me one iota to learn he was involved in – or at the very least had knowledge of – illegal payments made to Rielle Hunter. John Edwards has shown himself to be a snake on more than one occasion, and I wouldn’t trust a word he says.
