O’Reilly: Canadian life expectancy higher because U.S. has more people

On the July 27 edition of Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor, host Bill O’Reilly, who clearly has a tenuous grasp on reality, declared Canadians have a higher life expectancy than Americans because “we have 10 times as many people.”

Listen for yourself:

What O’Reilly doesn’t seem to understand is that the size of a nation’s population has absolutely nothing to do with the life expectancy of its population. In fact, Japan, which has considerably more people than Canada, has an even higher life expectancy than Canada.

Clearly Bill O’Reilly is no towering intellect.

  1. Bill was close on this one but the fact that America has tens of thousands times more deaths from homicide than canada. If you took out accidents and homicide, life expectancy is higher in the US than Canada.
