How do you spell oligarchy?

Well, if you’re Glenn Beck, you spell it O-L-I-G-A-R-H-Y:

Clearly Glenn Beck isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. Heck, he’s not even the second or third sharpest tool in the shed.

I can’t help but wonder if Merriam-Webster, makers of a fine line of dictionaries, will pull their advertising from Beck’s show, as so many other advertisers have done.

H/T to folkbum.

  1. It kind of makes one wonder how his TV show, which is on prior to the primetime cable slots, draws higher numbers than Keith Olberman, Rachel Maddow, and Larry King, doesn’t it?

Beck is pretty out there in the way he delivers his ideas (the epic explosion on a caller to his radio program comes to mind), but he has at least been consistent with his position regarding fiscal conservatism and has ripped Democrats and Republicans (especially Mitt Romney) alike of spending way too much money and putting a pervasive number of earmarks into various legislation.

Out of curiosity, how does providing a dictionary really help someone with his or her spelling when that person does not know how to spell the word? I’ve always wondered that ever since one of my teachers suggested I look up a word in the dictionary that I did not know how to spell.
