Obama grades his first year as a B+

Speaking on Oprah, President Obama rated his performance during his first year as president as a “B plus:”

Personally, if I had to grade President Obama he’d get a B, but I wouldn’t go any higher than that, unless of course a meaningful health care reform bill gets passed and signed into law before the end of the year, which is highly unlikely.

  1. You are being very generous. I’m still waiting for him to lead the way for equal rights for all people…

    1. I’m waiting for more movement on equal rights as well, Anon.

However, I do think President Obama has done some things that do make me happy I voted for him, and ultimately most presidents don’t really accomplish much during their first year on the job.

      1. I agree with you on that. Most people today have the attention span of a cotton ball. Thay all thought that Obama was gonna fix things right away, as if he was going to take out a magic wand on January 20th and say “Change is here”. Now as for those tea party people and the party of NO, well…they just flat out hate Obama for no reason at all. I guarantee you by the middle of 2010, things should be well back on track, and those TEA PARTY protesters are gonna look extremly stupid when the Democrats still have control of the house and Senate

        1. Cudahyresident, I think 2010 will be a rough year for Democrats unless the economy starts to really turn around. I think we’re already starting to see signs that things are getting better, but until unemployment numbers go down, average folks will continue to be dissatisfied, and they’ll take that dissatisfaction out on incumbents from both parties in Washington D.C.

As for President Obama, I’ll admit to a certain level of frustration with some of the positions he’s taken, but I’m also pragmatic enough to understand that things don’t get fixed in Washington overnight.

  2. I cannot believe he graded himself. He could have said something much more humble, like about leaving it up to the American people to decide on how good of a job he is doing.

Plus … “Passage of health care reform would boost his grade to an A-, he said. Until Americans get back to work, he said, ‘I can’t give myself the grade I’d like.’

So health care passage gets him into ‘A’ territory but he can’t give the grade he likes until people are back to work. Contradictory? Or does he want to give himself an A+ and a gold star?

Maybe he should focus more on the economy if he wants such a high mark instead of these other distractions like flying off to Coppenhagen.

Grading himself. Very cocky. And you guys called Bush arrogant.
