Sen. Russ Feingold issued a statement supporting a repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy that prohibits gays form serving openly in the military:
“For too long, ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ has discriminated against Americans who want nothing more than to serve their country. With our country engaged in two wars and our Armed Forces stretched thin, preventing talented Americans who want to serve from doing so makes no sense. This law should be quickly repealed, not only because we need the strongest military possible during times of war, but because it is the right thing to do.”
Considering the support repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” has within the Department of Defense, I won’t be one bit surprised to see the policy repealed before the end of 2010.
It’s about time we cleared up the communication gaps in the armed forces!
