From my email inbox comes news from the campaign of Marla Stephens, one of the three challengers to incumbent State Supreme Court justice David Prosser. Last week Stephens’ campaign announced it had received the endorsements of a number of “community leaders” across Wisconsin, with Stephens saying, “People throughout the state are ready for a Supreme Court that is accountable to them, not just the special interests. I am proud to have such distinguished supporters among those who believe that we need a Court that rules fairly, ethically, and without bias. I look forward to working with these leaders and many others throughout the state to ensure a Court that provides justice for all Wisconsinites.”
Here’s a list of the endorsements Stephens received:
Senator Robert Jauch (Poplar, WI)
Senator Chris Larson (Milwaukee, WI)
Senator Lena Taylor (Milwaukee, WI)Representative Andy Jorgensen (Ft. Atkinson, WI)
Representative Sandy Pasch (Whitefish Bay, WI)
Representative Donna Seidel (Wausau, WI)
Representative Christine Sinicki (Milwaukee, WI)Former Representative Chuck Benedict (Beloit, WI)
Former Representative Steve Hilgenberg (Dodgeville, WI)
Former Representative Mary Hubler (Rice Lake, WI)
Former Representative Marlin Schneider (Wisconsin Rapids, WI)
Former Representative Joe Wineke (Verona, WI)
Former Representative Ted Zigmunt (Francis Creek, WI)
How many judges are on that list? I think that tells us that something is significantly wrong with Stephans’ candidacy.
Yeah, it is striking that there aren’t any judges on the list.
