Yeah, those “tools” Republican Gov. Scott Walker gave municipal and county governments sure are AWESOME!
Just ask Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, who’s staring at the wrong end of a $21 million budget deficit in Milwaukee County’s 2012 budget thanks to cuts to state aid to Milwaukee County in the 2011-2013 biennial budget submitted by Gov. Walker and rubber-stamped by Republicans in the legislature.
As a result of the $21 million budget deficit Gov. Walker’s “tools” gave Milwaukee County, massive service cuts could be needed to fill the gap, according to a report released by the Public Policy Forum, a nonpartisan local think tank. According to that report, transit, parks and social services all could be chopped, while layoffs and benefit cuts could be ahead for county workers.
Yeah, Scott Walker’s “tools” are really more like just one tool – a sledgehammer.
