That’s the latest title to be bestowed upon Donald Trump when he receives the 2012 “Statesman of the Year” award from the Sarasota Republican Party in August.
Trump has been tapped to receive the award on the day before the Republican National Convention, just 60 miles south of the festivities in Tampa Bay.

NBC should be ashamed of itself for not drawing attention to how subversive it is to give Trump this award. A statesman is one experienced in the art of governance and directing the affairs of state. Trump is not a statesman, he’s a pundit representing interests other than those of the governed. He hasn’t performed the role of a statesman nor has his punditry reflected the stature of a statesman. For NBC not to call the Republican Party out on this one is nothing less than gross negligence. They should be boycotted for their complete absence of journalistic integrity.
