Senate Majority Leader Miller seeks to release redistricting records to public

Yes!

The Senate’s new top leader took steps Wednesday to take possession of the legal file that would provide details on how Republicans drew new election maps last year – a file he said he would make public.

“My feeling is this is work that was done for the public,” Senate Majority Leader Mark Miller (D-Monona) said. “It should be available to the public.”

Miller’s push for legal records came as Gov. Scott Walker’s office disclosed that nearly $75,000 more has been spent on legal work surrounding redrawing political lines, pushing the total cost to taxpayers past $1.6 million.

The records relating to how redistricting came to pass should absolutely be released for public review, because voters deserve to know what’s in those documents that Republicans were so afraid to release.

  1. I have a feeling we’re gonna be finding out very very soon. Knowing that republicans redrew these boundries, I”m sure there will be a lot of nasty revelations in them. After all, lets not forget, former assembly speaker Scott Jensen played a huge role in the redistricting process since he sat in on a lot of the meetings!!!!!!!!!!!
