Rep. Ryan Thinks Gun Violence is Only in the Inner City?

This whole exchange is just a little weird…but gun violence isn’t only in the inner city (and to our shame, the gun violence that does exist in our inner cities is being overlooked). Several headline news events involving have been in shopping malls, suburban movie theaters, a Sikh temple and the attempted assassination of one of his peers.

  1. Paul Ryan says we have “good, strong gun laws” while conveniently ignoring the “gun show loophole” that only requires criminal background checks only for guns sold through licensed firearm dealers, which account for just 60% of all gun sales in the United States.

    A loophole in the law allows individuals not “engaged in the business” of selling firearms to sell guns without a license—and without processing any paperwork. That means that two out of every five guns sold in the United States change hands without a background check.
