Once again failed Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney shows his true colors on a call with his failed presidential campaign’s donors.
President Obama today heaped praise on his defeated rival, GOP nominee Mitt Romney, saying the former governor’s record and ideas “could be very helpful” in shaping policy over the next four years
“My hope is, before the end of the year… that we have a chance to sit down and talk,” Obama told reporters in his first post-election press conference.
But even as Obama extended something of an olive branch – which some skeptics saw as disingenuous – Romney was reportedly accusing the president of doling out “gifts” to minority voters to curry their support for a second term.
“The President’s campaign focused on giving targeted groups a big gift-so he made a big effort on small things,” Romney told donors on a conference call, first reported by Maeve Reston of the L.A. Times. “Those small things, by the way, add up to trillions of dollars.”
Romney claimed Obama had been “very generous” to blacks, Hispanics and younger voters, according to the Times, insisting that the policy decisions had been a decisive factor in high turnout that tipped the scale against him.
The fact is, Mitt Romney has no one to blame for the electoral ass-kicking President Obama handed him except himself. Time and time again Mitt Romney showed on the campaign trail that he was a callow, dishonest, untrustworthy, and aloof candidate who was uninterested in the plight of the poor and the middle class, and voters saw him for what he really is: a man consumed with becoming president at all costs.
Well, isn’t politics about advancing policies — and by definition, different policy decisions benefit different groups. It’s for the electorate at large to decide. And they did. Resoundingly.
However, there is so much hypocrisy in Mitt saying this. HE DID THE EXACT SAME THING BY PROMISING HIS RICH FRIENDS A 20% TAX BREAK. DUH…..MAYBE YOU’RE BAD AT ‘RITHMETIC, MITT. A BIG BREAK TO 1% WILL GET YOU A LOT LESS VOTES THAN REASONABLE POLICIES AIMED AT THE MASSES.
Go back to Bain. They miss you.
Romney must be gearing up already for 2016. His pitch to donors hasn’t changed a bit.
After the election, Romney should know better than anyone that money just can’t buy everything. Despite all odds, our President prevailed. He still has an uphill battle fighting a Red House which has blocked his every move in an attempt to squash his goals of bringing the Middle Class equal pay, women’s rights, gay rights and affordable healthcare. The Bush Administration drove our economy into a swift nose dive and Obama is still the patsy.
