So here’s something absolutely fascinating regarding far-right Republican Jessie Rodriguez’s campaign to become the next State Representative in the 21st Assembly District:
According to campaign finance documents, Rodriguez’s campaign spent just over $1,100 during the primary campaign, yet according to campaign finance documents filed with the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board by the American Federation for Children’s Action Fund, that group spent over $45,000 to help Jessie Rodriguez win the Republican primary tonight.
To put that in perspective, the American Federation for Children, a right-wing education “reform” outfit with ties to disgraced and convicted former Republican Assembly Speaker Scott Jensen, spent nearly 45 times more money to help elect Jessie Rodriguez than her own campaign spent.
In fact, the American Federation for Children loves Jessie Rodriguez so much, they’re even running a campaign website for her (take a look at the disclaimer in thebox on the bottom right).
And here’s something else to put the amount of money the American Federation for Children spent into perspective.
Jessie Rodriguez received 1,512 votes to win the Republican primary in the 21st Assembly District last night, which means the American Federation for Children spent nearly $30 per vote to help Jessie Rodriguez.
That a heck of a lot of money to spend in a primary to help elect a candidate, and I’m betting the folks at the American Federation for Children are expecting a big return on their investment if Jessie Rodriguez is a elected.
