As Ed Shaina noted earlier today, Democratic State Sen. John Lehman has announced he will run for Lieutenant Governor next year rather than seek re-election to his Senate seat.
As a friend on Facebook noted, there’s been no word on when Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate will issue a statement sharing his belief that Senator Lehman is a strong voice in the Senate and would hate to take a chance of losing that seat, as Tate did regarding Sen. Kathleen Vinehout’s possible run for governor in 2014.
I think you need an editor on this one…sorry.
Barring a complete collapse of the Wisconsin GOP, Lehman’s seat was going to flip to the GOP thanks to Republican gerrymandering even if Lehman ran for re-election to the state senate, so it’s not surprising that Lehman would decide to run for lieutenant governor. The DPW has not issued a press release on Lehman’s entrance to the LG race at this time.
Lehman seems like a solid candidate, but I’ll wait and see if other Democrats enter the Wisconsin LG primary before I decide on who I’ll endorse, although I will endorse a Democrat.
Aaron, I think you missed the point.
Mahlon Mitchell would be a strong candidate. Is he not going to run?
wait..my name is Ed now? 😉 lol
Learn to love it!
My bad….it’s been one of those days.
