Republican Rep. Dave Heaton will not seek reelection

If I were Republican rubber stamp Rep. Dave Heaton, I’d be afraid of Democrat Mandy Wright too.

Freshman representative Dave Heaton (R-Wausau) announced Monday he will not run for a second term in the Wisconsin legislature. Heaton defeated Democratic incumbent Mandy Wright for the 85th Assembly seat during the November 2014 election by just 86 votes.

Former WSAU radio commentator Pat Snyder announced Monday he would run as the Republican candidate in the 85th Assembly District.

Given Rep. Heaton’s record of rubber stamping the far-right legislative agenda of Republican Gov. Scott Walker, it’s no wonder he chose not to run for reelection, because despite the advantages of incumbency he looked to face an uphill climb in order to retain his seat.

    1. Thanks Duane. It seems every time I get set to sit down and post some things to the blog, life gets in the way. Moving forward I’m going to do my level best to be more consistent about posting.
