Yesterday was World Free Press Day. And to help celebrate it, the University of Wisconsin’s Institute of World Affairs had a panel discussion: Silenced! Navigating Global Threats to Press Freedom. And they handed out a couple of flyers including one on free press ranking worldwide from Reporters Without Borders. And here is the top ten and then the explanation of what it means.
So where is the nation who has freedom of the press enshrined in the guiding document of their federal democratic government?
Just freakin’ awesome…and heading down. Why isn’t the United States in the top ten?
