Rep. Paul Ryan: progressivism is a “cancer”

MadCityMan touched on this yesterday, but I wanted to add my own two cents…

During a recent appearance on Glenn Beck’s show, Republican Rep. Paul Ryan agreed with Beck’s excoriation of progressivism as a “cancer,” as Beck has done time and time again.

I’m not one to fly off the handle, but I have to agree with illy T, who summed it up best:

How disgusting. Cancer is cancer. Ask somebody who has it, or who has lost a loved one to it. This is about as low as a politician can get.

If you’d like, give Rep. Ryan’s office a call and let him know how you feel: 202-225-3031.

  1. Oh come on, that term is used all the time to refer to something other than the disease of cancer.

Example: Barack Obama: “We’re in Afghanistan to prevent a cancer from once again spreading through that country.” Dec 2009

  2. Leave it to the left for inane scrutiny of a word used to describe the uncontrollable spread of a volatile idea. The more I think about it, cancer wasn’t the right word – STD would have been much more appropriate.
