Defrocked, right? I mean they still wear those silly robes.
And I am using the Trump label only because it is front and center in the news and just like labeling electeds as D or R, apparently it is de rigueur to identify federal judges by the president who appointed them.
And of course the issues at the southern border of the United States are big news now and probably forever, or until at least the GOP finishes turning the USA into a third world country. And no, I don’t have a ready solution for the issue. But with last night’s expiration of Title 42 instituted by President Trump during the COVID-19 pandemic, a new procedure needed to be in place this morning…except…wait for it…the federal court had to weigh in:
A federal judge in Florida blocked a Biden administration plan to release migrants in the U.S. on “parole” because of an surge expected once an emergency immigration restriction known as Title 42 lifts.
U.S. District Judge T. Kent Wetherell in the Northern District of Florida wrote late Thursday that a Biden administration memorandum outlining the parole policy appeared to conflict with a decision from the court in a separate case earlier this year. Wetherell, nominated by President Donald Trump, said his order would take effect at 11:59 p.m.
Because of the expected surge of migrants, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said it would parole certain people without what’s known as a notice to appear, essentially a charging document because those documents take additional time to prepare.
The impact of Wetherell’s ruling was not immediately clear. The administration was almost certain to appeal. The Justice Department didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

So why do I suggest that Judge Wetherell be defrocked or censured or impeached or what ever seems appropriate. Because this part of his ruling seems to be overly political and lacking in an actual legal ruling sense.
“The Southwest Border has been out of control for the past 2 years,” Wetherell wrote. “And it is about to get worse because, at midnight tonight, the Title 42 order expires.”
So Judge Wetherell…tell me that the Biden admin’s plans violate federal law…or your ruling…or whatever legalese is appropriate. But leave the speechifying out of it. Or leave your robe on the coat rack and ask the bailiff to see you safely out of the building.
