The Blogging Blue Sunday Homily: The Lord’s Prayer

Yes, it’s been some time since I have published a Sunday homily…but given that the nation’s most notorious Bible salesman is, according to recent news items, once again threatening his opponents with revenge and retribution, it seems right and just’. I would suggest that on this Sunday, after having dinner with Melania and family, that the former president take up his personal copy of the God Bless the USA Bible’ and page to Mathew (or if he prefers, Luke) and read the Lord’s Prayer:

Traditional Ecumenical Version

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Most Protestants conclude with the doxology: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. This is the most common tenet shared by ALL Christian denominations, albeit in slightly different translations. But for a ‘self proclaimed Christian’ to defy and subvert the very words of Christ is blasphemy. So, look into your hearts and see that Donald Trump isn’t the second coming, but actually the lead money changer in the Temple. And when you pray?

“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words” (Matthew 6:6-7)

Amen
