I swear, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin just can’t stay out of the news.
First there was the ongoing saga of of the he said, she said between Gov. Palin, her daughter Bristol, and Levi Johnston and his family, and now there’s the story of the rather “interesting” past comments made by Gov. Palin’s nominee for Alaska Attorney General, Wayne Anthony Ross.
Gov. Palin nominated Wayne Anthony Ross for the position of attorney general back in March, and while Ross was once considered a shoo-in for confirmation, his nomination has come under serious fire when his opponents presented evidence that in the past Ross has called homosexuals “degenerates,” hailed the “courage” of a student who lionized the Ku Klux Klan, vowed to undermine the sovereignty of Native American tribes, and allegedly defended men who rape their wives. According to Leah Burton, a lobbyist in Alaska on children’s issues and domestic violence, Ross allegedly asked the question, “If a guy can’t rape his wife, who’s he gonna rape?” during a speech to a 1991 gathering of the “father’s rights” group Dads Against Discrimination. Ross has denied the remarks, but the damage may already be done, as it’s been rumored Gov. Palin may ask Ross to withdraw before his appointment comes to a vote.
Considering how she handled herself during the 2008 presidential campaign, as well as the sniping between her people and Sen. John McCain’s immediately following the election and the ongoing Levi Johnston situation, the current mess surrounding Gov. Palin’s attorney general nominee shouldn’t be one bit surprising. During her brief time in the national spotlight, Gov. Palin has shown a stunning lack of political smarts, and perhaps the only reason she’s taken seriously by some as a legitimate Republican presidential contender in 2012 is her folksy charm. To be honest, I’d love to see Gov. Palin win the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, because a Palin-Obama race in 2012 would be epic, not only for its hilarity but also because it’d ensure a big win for President Obama.
Okay Zach…I’ll bite.
First…Gov. Palin cannot control what an immature young man and his family does to have their 15 minutes of fame. What Levi says or does isn’t a reflection on Gov. Palin. You can’t blame the mother if the daughter makes a really bad choice in boyfriends. I have a feeling Sarah Palin (the mother) tried her best to talk sense into her daughter without any luck. To continue to use that against Gov. Palin is wrong, wrong, wrong and weak, weak, weak.
This nominee for AG is interesting. So far, it’s a he said he said situation. Is there any proof (like a video) Ross said these things? IF it is true Gov. Palin obviously didn’t do a good enough job vetting him…which is something we have seen over and over again with the Obama administration.

“IF it is true Gov. Palin obviously didn’t do a good enough job vetting him…”
The issue is not that she didn’t vet WAR. Sarah Palin deliberately chose WAR for precisely the reasons that are now playing against him.

“Palingates.blogspot.com”?? No bias there…right? LOL. Sorry but I’m not buying it. However…if what you are claiming is true I’m sure other news sources that are a little less bias will cover it.
Anon, I neglected to mention that the controversy around whether Ross made the comments he made about men raping their wives isn’t the only issue surrounding his nomination. He’s also alleged to have called gays “degenerates,” and he’s also wrote an editorial defending a local college student who had offended an African-American classmate by creating a statue of a Klansman with a cross in one hand and a flag in the other.
