  1. What my senator did was distasteful and he is a pig. Having said that, how does that compare with Ted Kennedy murdering a young girl, Barney Frank having a house of prositution run out of hishouse, Larry Craig and the bathroom games and so much more. This is tame, though he is still a pig.

    1. Dan, don’t forget Rep. Mark Foley preying on underage Congressional pages, or Sen. David Vitter soliciting the DC Madame.

Oh, and Ted Kennedy didn’t “murder” a young girl. Murder is premeditated.

      1. I don’t know Zach. It’s my opinion when people drive while intoxicated and kill someone in the process it’s murder.

  2. I have to admit this story made me laugh. Not because I thought it was funny the Senator had an affair but because of the way the conservatives have been riding the high horse lately. It seems like whenever people start getting too big for their britches and act like their side is sooo much better something like this comes out. People are people and they will screw up no matter what side they are on.

Dan…what Ted Kennedy was definitely worse and he should have been held accountable but I don’t think anyone is comparing the two. The comparison is between the Senator and President Clinton.

  3. Actually i was comparing Senator Ensign 1998 to Senator Ensign 2009 !!! Hypocrisy at it’s finest.

  4. IMHO the issue is not a moral issue of the “affair”. People have sex, duh.

The issue for me with Pres Clinton was his abuse of his power. He was in a senior/subordinate relationship with….well with EVERYONE in government. It’s like a teacher/student relationship to me, or a cop/suspect relationship….it seems best to keep it professional. Then of course there was the lieing and denials. All adds up to an unprofessional abuse of his power.

So, IMHO it’s not exactly the same situation with Sen Ensign, because he’s not denying it nor lieing about it. But yes it was similarly unprofessional because it was a staffer. Now if it was some random individual, I’d say….this is nothing but shameful spin.

  5. “Actually i was comparing Senator Ensign 1998 to Senator Ensign 2009 !!!”

    That’s even a better comparison.

    “Hypocrisy at it’s finest.”

That is true. The problem is as people we may believe a certain way but since we aren’t perfect sometimes we may screw up and do something we don’t believe in. All people are hypocrites at one time or another.

  6. How cool. You can reply directly to a specific comment even if it’s hours later and other comments have been made.

    1. Yeah, as I’ve been messing around with the blog’s setting, I discovered the setting to allow nested threads.
