“Republicans have cast votes against the key TSA funding measure, the 2010 appropriation bill for the Department of Homeland Security contained, which included funding for the TSA, including for explosives detection systems and other aviation security measures. In the June 24 vote in the House, leading Republicans including John Boehner, Pete Hoekstra, Mike Pence and Paul Ryan voted against the bill, amid a procedural dispute over the appropriations process, a Democrat points out. A full 108 Republicans voted against the conference version, including Boehner, Boehner, Hoekstra, Pence, Michelle Bachmann, Marsha Blackburn, Darrell Issa, and Joe Wilson.
The conference bill included more than $4 billion for “screening operations,” including $1.1 billion in funding for explosives detection systems, including $778 million for buying and installing the systems.”

The very article you post points out that vote was “amid a procedural dispute over the appropriations process.” You can vote against some good things in those omnibus bills while voting against a lot of other bad stuff. I think you could nail any member of Congress on a voted for it/voted against it catch-22. Do you know anything about the legislative process?

The GOP seems to think that the failed Detroit bombing is is their “ticket out of the wilderness” according to The Washington Post. However just like their misreading of the opposition to and trial balloons to repeal the yet to be passed Health Care Bill, they have totally misread the pulse of the American people who are watching their shenanigans very closely.
With the GOP vote against the TSA funding, delaying the appointment of Custom and Borders Protection Director Bersin and with Senator DeMint blocking the appointment of TSA Director Southers over fears of unionization, they have nothing to stand on. If anything the Dems have to go even more on the attack against the party of no.

Nice try MadCityMan. Any GOP vote against TSA funding would be meaningless, since it would still pass with a Dem majority.
As for the appointments of Borders and TSA Director, well, President Obama thought those positions were SO important that he let them sit vacant for over EIGHT MONTHS before nominating anyone. If they were so important, why didn’t he nominate them on Day 1 (or before) so that if any challenges arose, it could be quickly dealt with?
And what if Bush had stayed at the ranch during a sitation like this, as Obama has stayed on the beach in Hawaii? I can only imagine the liberal outrage. “You’re doing a heck of a job, Janet!”
