Sheriff Clarke to have a Democratic challenger? Hallelujah!

As first reported by xoff at Uppity Wisconsin, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, a “Democrat,” will face a primary challenge from Chris Moews, who from everything I’ve heard is an honest to goodness real Democrat, not a Republican masquerading as a Democrat in order to win an election.

Moews has quite an impressive background, having served as a member of the Milwaukee Police Department since 1996. In 2001 Moews was promoted to Detective, and in 2009 he was again promoted to Lieutenant of Detectives. Moews has a number of commendations to his credit, and his training experiences and certifications as a law enforcement officer are extensive. While it’s obviously too early to know what kind of campaign Moews plans on running, it’s certainly encouraging to see that Sheriff David Clarke will have a challenger from within the Democratic Party.

I’ll have more on this situation in the very near future.

  1. Nice! It’s good to know that not only is a real Democrat challenging Clarke, but it’s someone with the kind of experience that voters will trust.
