  1. One thing I disgaree with is that there would be a three year wage freeze, that is unfair to any worker. I recently went 2 years without a raise I could not imagine three years especially with the amount of tax increases we are going to suffer under Obama.

    1. Notalib, most state employees have been working without a contract (and thus have had their wages frozen) for the better part of two years. Add in furloughs and you’re talking about a pay cut of slightly over 3%. The fact is, the vast majority of state employees are not getting wealthy at the taxpayers’ expense; most are solidly middle class folks.

  2. Nota if you went 2 years without a raise, then its a good thing for you, Obama gave you a Tax cut. You should thank him!

  3. Oh yeah that extra $4.83 a check really made a difference…hahahahahahaha Obama has done NOTHING in two years that deserves a thank you from anybody,

    1. So wait….now you’re saying that the tax cut you got doesn’t deserve a thank you because it wasn’t big enough?

Also….I’m wondering if you can answer an honest question for me. Which do you think is more important, lowering our taxes or reducing our national debt?

      1. Lower taxes for all people is the first step, then work on the debt by starting to make DC live within thier mens. They cannot just keep spending and spending on etitlement programs, they cannot just keep spending on military programs, they need to become fiscially responsible. That means it will hurt for a while, that means the gravey train for some may dry up but this attitude especially by progressives that governement MUST take care of us is just out dated, that was never how it was set up to operate.

        1. So you support adding another $700 billion to the national debt? After all, that’s what the Bush tax cuts will add to the deficit over 10 years.

Also….remind me again how much the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have cost taxpayers. Those wars weren’t started by progressives/liberals.

          1. Then you find programs and spending to cut to bring down the debt. You stop spending. Its time to get out of Afghanistan, its time to bring the troops home from Iraq. Its time we shut of all benefits to people who are not here legally. There are many things that can be done to improve this country, proressives just need to step aside or join the rest of America in stopping the insanity that the federal government is bringing to AMerica.

            1. Nota,…welcome aboard. You just advocated for the progressive positions of the last 8 years. We should of never been in Iraq and Afghanistan. No one wants people who dont live here, we just think they should be treated like human beings. Maybe had you joined with us in 2004 we wouldnt be in this mess!

(By the way people cant be illegal and we dont have an illegal immigration problem(but thats another post)).

              1. yes they are illegal yes we do have a problem and yes we should pull the troops out of Iraq and Afghantistan and put all of them on our southern border with 100% orders to keep the borders closed by using an means necessary.

  4. I thought an agreement was already reached (pending member approval and whatnot).

The irony being that all the saber rattling going on between the current and incoming administrations probably went a long way to getting it done. And considering they were apparently incapable of working out a deal before for what a year and a half? Plus probably the year prior where they were actually negotiating before the existing contract expired.

You know full well that facing the prospect of negotiating with Walker played a part them agreeing to terms with Doyle.

If I thought either side was smart enough, I’d think it could’ve been a case of good cop, bad cop.

    1. Locke, the fact that there hasn’t been a deal for a year and a half isn’t an aberration; for as long as I’ve been a state employee that’s how things have dragged out, because these contracts are obviously very detailed and require a lot of negotiation. It’s worth noting the parties involved are required by law to negotiate (unless I’m mistaken), but there are often multiple unions involved in multiple rounds of negotiations.
