UW-Whitewater wins another DIII college football championship!

This is awesome…

After practice each Thursday, the UW-Whitewater football team places a stone at midfield and beats that sucker with a sledgehammer.

“Pounding the rock” is what the Warhawks call their weekly ritual.

Bam, bam, bam.

You could almost hear the echo Saturday from the Blue Ridge Mountains all the way to the Kettle Moraine Forest.

Bap, bap, bap.

It was the sound of Whitewater announcing itself as the supreme overlord of NCAA Division III football with back-to-back championships, and its third in four seasons, against mighty, mighty Mount Union.

Meet the new boss. The Warhawks have officially scaled that beast.

Amazingly, in four seasons with the Warhawks head coach Lance Leipold has a won-loss record of 57-3 and has won three national championships.
