Sandy Pasch to oppose Alberta Darling

It looks Republican State Senator Alberta Darling has an opponent, as Democratic State Rep. Sandy Pasch has announced she’ll oppose Darling in the recall election in the 8th State Senate district.

“One of the main reasons I’m running in this recall election is because of the huge cuts and hits that is happening to public education in the state of Wisconsin,” Pasch said.

While Sen. Darling has already busied herself raising bucketloads of money from her big business backers, Rep. Pasch will be a formidable opponent for Sen. Darling, who narrowly beat former Democratic State Rep. Sheldon Wasserman in 2008 to retain her seat. Sandy Pasch couldn’t present a more stark contrast with Sen. Darling, who’s far from being the moderate she would have voters believe she is, based on her voting record as a State Senator.

What alternate universe is Sandy living in? MPS per student costs for the taxpayer is one of the highest in the country and they have the worst outcomes. Sandy needs to justify why she wants to “bleed” the taxpayer – since she is a nurse, it will be interesting to hear her answer!

  2. Chloe,

Sandy can speak for herself regarding her universe, but my question to you is, where, exactly, do you live? Is it in Milwaukee? If so, I don’t understand how you can feel that paying for quality education for Milwaukees children is “bleeding” the taxpayer – unless, of course, you don’t have any children attending MPS – in which case, I think I understand where you are coming from – you probably don’t want to pay for educating other people’s children. If this is the case, well, then I feel sorry for you – it can’t be easy to be so selfish.

    1. I absolutely agree with you Mark.
I am a student currently attending a public school on the East side of Milwaukee, and Chole I can tell you that we as a school district we can not afford more budget cuts. Moreover, how dare you say that MPS is not producing results when, of the 20 schools in the state of Wisconsin that are on the “Best High Schools in America” 14 of those are in Representative Darlings district.
I hope that his can remove any doubt that MPS does not produce results.

      1. Not to nitpick, but according to the link you provided, Wisconsin had only 12 schools on the list, and of those schools not a single one happens to fall under the purview of MPS.
