Topic of the Week: policy items in the state budget

Back when he was campaigning for governor in 2010, Scott Walker said he wanted to keep policy items and pork projects out of the biennial state budget – a promise Walker and Republicans have broken with the 2011-2013 biennial budget. Whether it’s allowing Dog the Bounty Hunter types to ply their trade in Wisconsin’s communities, repealing the Act 28 criminal sentencing reforms, or trampling on local government control over their road repair contracts, Republicans in the legislature have been busy inserting policy items into the biennial state budget.

So let’s discuss….should policy items and pork projects be a part of the biennial budget?
