Just a couple of observations about tonight’s recall elections

In State Senate District 12, Democrat Jim Holperin prevailed over tea party Republican Kim “cops are cowards” Simac by a larger margin than Holperin’s margin of victory in 2008. Holperin beat Simac 55% to 45% after winning in 2008 with only 51% of the vote.

In State Senate District 22, Bob Wirch absolutely crushed Illinois corporate attorney Jonathan Steitz, beating him 58% to 42%.

Just to recap, that means that precisely ZERO Democrats were recalled this year, so despite all the bluster from conservatives about how they’d hold those Democrats who left Wisconsin accountable for their actions, it seems pretty clear that an overwhelming majority of their constituents approve of their actions on behalf of public employees and the middle class.

Republicans lose.
