Scott Walker supports recalls….just not when he’s the target!

Scott Walker, talking about recall elections in 2010, when he was just a gubernatorial candidate:

“You… know the folks that were angry about this started a recall and they were told they needed to collect 73,000 signatures in sixty days,” said Walker. “Well, not hundreds, not thousands, but tens of thousands of ordinary people did an extraordinary thing. They stood up and took their government back. In less than thirty days they collected more than 150,000 signatures. It was at that moment I realized the real emotion on display in my county wasn’t just about anger. You see, if it had been about anger, it would have been about people checking out and moving out or giving up. But instead what happened was really amazing. You saw people standing up shoulder to shoulder, neighbor to neighbor and saying we want our government back. And in doing so the real emotion on display was about hope. Today I see a lot of the same emotions on display here in Wisconsin and all across our great country. Obviously, there are a lot of reasons to be angry.”

So remember folks….Scott Walker supports recalls against elected officials….just as long as he’s not the elected official being targeted by a recall.

  1. Love the video, Steve, but I’d say that you could at any time insert a picture of either a D or R and it would ring true. They are BOTH corrupted by campaign bribes, and only public funding of campaigns will return our control of government back to the owners (the people), And unfortunately, that is going to require a massive turnover in 2012, hopefully to third parties and independents.

  2. I googled a portion of the quote and could not come up with a reliable source. Do you know where this quote came from? Is it from the MJS?

      1. Thanks Zach. I wanted to share it but there’s so much inaccurate info flying around that I wanted to verify it first.

  3. I could say folks like Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and Bill Maher and many other liberals DIDN’T support the California recall against Gov. Davis a few years back (and have some very interesting quotes on that topic), but do you think they are going to stand up and say recalls are bad, now that it’s against Walker?

Also, I’ve seen you and others say that the recall process is such a great avenue of democracy. Well I would like to recall President Obama. Isn’t it a travesty for democracy that I can’t do that? I am sure I can expect you and the others to fight hard to help pass a constitutional amendment so that I can exercise that right.
