Whats the Matter With Kansas?

Its run by Republicans, and right now the Republican party has become unhinged! Case in point: Kansas Republican Speaker of the House Mike O'Neil is praying for the death of President Obama and calls The First Lady of the United States "Mrs. Yobama".

Speaker Mike O’Neal compared Michelle Obama to the Grinch in e-mails and later wrote over the holiday: ““I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing Mrs. YoMama a wonderful, long Hawaii Christmas vacation — at our expense, of course.”

In another e-mail, Speaker O’Neal forwarded Psalm 109, which reads: “May his days be few; may another seize his position…” and continues:

May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.

May his children be wandering beggars; may they be driven from their ruined homes.

May a creditor seize all he has; may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.

May no one extend kindness to him or take pity on his fatherless children.

O’Neal wrote: “At last — I can honestly voice a Biblical prayer for our president! Look it up — it is word for word! Let us all bow our heads and pray. Brothers and Sisters, can I get an AMEN? AMEN!!!!!!”

Mr. O’Neal I have no doubt that you can get plenty of “Amens” everytime you appear on fox news. The rest of us will be happy when the secret service visits him and hopefully he will do the right thing and resign. I am sure you will not find any retractions on denouncements on a right wing website and that Maciver would much rather tell you about the beer dumped on robin vos’s head than discuss or denounce this. In reality the majority of violence and hatred is coming from the right and needs to be stopped. It is now obvious that there is no one in leadership in the republican party who will step up and denounce these kind of actions(heck its republican party leadership that is perpetrating them), so the only option now is to vote them out of office. lets hope the electorate is smarter and more mature than the politicians are!

  1. I have to agree that is going way too far. But maybe their state actually prosecutes death threats unlike Wisconsin were you can post on Facebook your planning to go to the capitol and kill the governor and since you didn’t post it on the governor’s Facebook page it doesn’t count.

  2. Joe, Thank you for denouncing this. You are the first right wing person I have heard do so! Bravo!

As for the facebook threat, I am working on a post denouncing that also!

  3. This is all concocted exaggeration. O’Neil may be stupid for doing what he did, but he did not pray for Obama’s death. He specifically quoted verse 8, so the rest of the Psalm is irrelevant. We all lift verses out of context at times. This is no exception. Calling Republicans racist is just more dirty political name-calling. And, considering how the Left savaged and demeaned Bush and Palin, this is nothing by comparison.

  4. This abhorrent hate speech is dangerous and treasonous for any elected official. Put it in perspective: if a middle school kid posted this on a SNS he would be suspended or expelled. But somehow it is deemed ok to denigrate this First Family because they are, well, you fill in the blank.
    Horsepucky!
