Conservative “wunderkind” now holds more mature, nuanced views

Remember this kid?

In case you don’t, that’s then-13 year-old Jonathan Krohn speaking to conservative at CPAC in 2009. Krohn had just written a book titled “Defining Conservatism,” and many hailed him as a future star of the Republican Party and the conservative movement. Flash forward to 2012, and Krohn, now 17 years old, isn’t really that conservative anymore.

“I think it was naive,” Krohn now says of the speech. “It’s a 13-year-old kid saying stuff that he had heard for a long time.… I live in Georgia. We’re inundated with conservative talk in Georgia.… The speech was something that a 13-year-old does. You haven’t formed all your opinions. You’re really defeating yourself if you think you have all of your ideas in your head when you were 12 or 13. It’s impossible. You haven’t done enough.”

Perhaps Bill Maher was on to something…

While some conservatives who take issue with Krohn’s maturation and development believe his is a case proving “why children should be seen and not heard,” I’m betting if this were a formerly outspoken liberal kid expressing his now conservative views, he’d be held up as a hero.

  1. I listened to jonathan krohn talk (I MEAN TRY) to talk politics with Thom hartmann and my first take was this 11 yr old child is simply repeating what someone thought him! Seriously I believe mr krohn is very bright but only your typical idiot republican could have thought that this was their messiah! WOW I did say idiot didn’t I! Anyway jonathan is 17 now and guess what? he has gotten a slightly more mature view on life and politics so are we really surprised he renounced conservatism for the pathetic sick scam it is? GOD BLESS YOU young mr krohn you fought the darkness of hate and fear and discovered the truth! conservatism is is con game!!
