Tea Party darling Joe Walsh questions hero status of Iraq war double amputee

Republican Rep. Joe Walsh, who previously made headlines as a deadbeat dad, is back in the news, and this time he’s denigrating the sacrifice made by an Iraq War veteran who lost both her legs in combat.

“That’s what’s so noble about our heroes,” Walsh said. “Now I’m running against a woman who, I mean, my God, that’s all she talks about. Our true heroes, the men and women who served us, it’s the last thing in the world they talk about.”

When I think of Joe Walsh, “scumbag” is the first word that usually comes to mind, but in this case the first words that come to mind are “piece of human garbage.”

While Walsh may take issue with how often Tammy Duckworth wants to talk about her service to our nation, he’s in no position to question her status as a hero, or how often she chooses to mention her service. I’d like to think that after losing both her legs in combat while serving our country, Tammy Duckworth has earned the right to talk about her service to our country.

  1. What’s so damn pathetic is that republicans won’t see anything wrong with walsh’s filthy, juvenile comments about Miss Duckworth! Your typical republican those pro military war loving (SO LONG AS IT”S SOMEBODY ELSE FIGHTING) the flag waving phoney as hell patriotic clowns love them some war veterans! well only if your a republican war veteran, last time I checked the enemy doesn’t care what your politics are! Imagine if a democrat said something like that to a vet!! All hell would break loose! conservative radio would be quaking about that for months!! Imagine o’reilly’s puffy pasty old puss going ape sh*t! limbaugh calling for a overthrow of the democratic party! republicans are hypocrites with zero conscience! ZERO

    1. Not surprising at all. look what republicans did to john kerry! hell! look how the GOP treated Colin powell after he spoke his mind about the racist treatment OBAMA was receiving during the 2008 election. Wheres Powell now? siberia? See republicans love war veterans when it serves their purposes to be talk conservative nonsense, and they love black people when it serves their purposes to be tokens

  2. Walsh’s indecency speaks to the Tea Party Culture of irrationality, empathy denuded and devoid of propriety. This is the culture we will have if their 40 year plan succeeds. This isn’t the first time Walsh has disparaged Duckworth’s service. I should hope veterans speak out loudly and publicly denounce him. I hope they galvanize and work to defeat him.

Walsh did not apologize, but did the Conservative thing to do: he claimed his words were being distorted. His words were not distorted. His words were indecorous and foul. He’s unfit to govern.

    1. Y’know, I think the real issue here isn’t Tammy Duckworth’s service in the military; it’s her gender. Given Walsh’s history with his ex-wife, I can’t help but wonder if he’s just got real issues with women in general.

  3. Being from Illinois (but not Walsh’s district), it makes our state look bad to have Walsh in our state’s congressional delegation. Walsh is a racist, sexist, chickenhawk, liar, and blowhard that has absolutely no regard for anyone’s concerns. I’m from a heavily-Republican region of Illinois, and I’ve put up with a womanizer by the name of Tim Johnson “representing” me in Congress for 12 years, and, since I was drawn into the congressional district of John Shimkus, and his only opponent this cycle is a fake Democrat, I’ll likely have to put up with Shimkus, who believes that big oil companies should get “mom and pop” tax breaks, as my “representative” in Congress.

Tammy Duckworth is a hero to me, not only for serving our country in uniform, but also for having the courage to run against the single biggest jerk that has ever been elected to Congress.
