Racism rears its ugly head at GOP convention

Why am I not surprised?

Two people were removed from the Republican National Convention Tuesday after they threw nuts at an African-American CNN camera operator and said, “This is how we feed animals.”

Multiple witnesses observed the exchange and RNC security and police immediately removed the two people from the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

While I’m completely unsurprised by the fact that there are racists at the GOP convention, I am surprised that those racists would be so bold as to insult a CNN news crew in such a manner.

It takes a special brand of ignorance and hate to do what the two GOP convention-goers did.

  1. Racism is alive and breathing in the USA and its a shame. In times of bad economics white people become angery and lash out at Afcrican Amercians and revert back to KKKism we are not the second largest minority in the country anymore Haspanics are but you still want to attack our jobs and persons. Why?

  2. Wow two whole jerks were somewhere? I bet there will be zero at the Dem convention, right? I wouldn’t bet on it, unless you live in fantasy land, which many on this blog appear to do.

  3. You mean rears its ugly heads – plural – as in the hydra of race baiting and racial dog whistles rampant at the convention – unsurprisingly, I suppose. And then there was the brief moment when the Puerto Rican delegate was chanted down with USA! USA! – I think she was a delegate, not sure. Atrocious.

The fish rots from the head down. Include on the list Ann Romney’s vile admission that Latinos need only get past “some of their biases” and the GOP message will resonate. And reaching out to Latino voters, she mentioned her trip to Puerto Rico, of which she said: “I had the most rocking time in Puerto Rico at a political rally than I’ve ever had in my entire life. You people really know how to party. It was crazy!”

  4. How about NBC/msnbc cutting away any time there was a minority speaker and then declaring it an all white convention? I guess they are just biased like Zach. But when does bias turn into untruthful? Shame!

    1. That is the question, FMSN. When does bias turn into untruthful? The spectacle of the RNC convention is the answer. The entire theme is constructed from a cynically biased lie, but then so is the Conservative agenda. Shameful dishonesty that makes a mockery of our republic and a testament to our Democracy absconded. Shame on all the footboys who keep it elevated.

    2. I’d love to see some video of someone declaring the GOP convention an “all white convention,” especially considering Condi Rice spoke tonight.

      I’ll be waiting.
