There’s vote fraud happening in Wisconsin…..thanks to Republicans!

For all their talk about “rampant vote fraud” here in Wisconsin, conservatives have been hard-pressed to provide real, concrete examples of the vote fraud they say makes draconian voter ID laws necessary.

However, as Tony Galli of WKOW in Madison is reporting, we now have an example of vote fraud committed by a conservative, in this case Samantha Vos, the soon-to-be ex-wife of Republican State Rep. Robin Vos. According to records, Samantha Vos cast a vote in in Wisconsin’s April presidential primary election despite the fact that she was a resident of Idaho at the time.

Wisconsin Government Accountability Board records show Samantha Vos voted in the state’s April 3 election. Vos is the wife of Rep. Robin Vos (R-Rochester), the co-chair of the state’s powerful Joint Finance Committee.

But records from Canyon County, Idaho show Samantha Vos swore under oath April 19 she was a resident of that state since early March. Vos’ declaration came as she filed for legal separation from her husband.

Wisconsin law requires 28 days of continuous residency prior to voting.

  1. Who will be the first local radio talker to trumpet this example of voter fraud?
Will it be Jeff Wagner, or his puppet master Charlie Sykes, or maybe Mark Belling, or what’s his name in the morning?

    1. On a related note, where the hell is the Journal-Sentinel with this story. They can’t help but run a false Media TraKKKers story about black women signing recall petitions, but when the (soon to be ex-) wife of one of the top GOP legislators cheats, they say NOTHING.

It is time to go after JournalComm with all guns ablazing. They have thrown away any semblance of fairness or attempts to improve our poisonous political climate. In fact, the J-S, 620, and TMJ-4 seem to want to make the environment as heated and ugly as possible, and apparently so they can get paid with ads.

Vos may be one of the lowest forms on earth. He is an ALEC crook with no redeeming value.

  2. And voter suppression is on the radar screen again. We should keep it there. Thomas Paine had a bit to say about voting:

“The true and only true basis of representative government is equality of rights. Every man has a right to one vote, and no more in the choice of representatives. The rich have no more right to exclude the poor from the right of voting, or of electing and being elected, than the poor have to the exclude the rich; and wherever it is attempted, or proposed, on either side, it is a question of force and not of right. Who is he that would exclude another? That other has the right to exclude him…”

When we speak of a right we ought always unite with it the idea of duties; rights become duties by reciprocity. The right which I enjoy becomes my duty to guarantee it to another, and he to me; and those who violate the duty unjustly incur a forfeiture of the right.”
~ Dissertation on the First Principles of Government

Here’s a thought. Howsa ‘bout a campaign inspired by Thomas Paine’s Dissertation on the First Principles of Government? How about a push for disenfranchisement of the disenfranchisers?

  3. This will be prosecuted in the same way that those who tore up recall petitions were prosecuted, as in NOT.

  4. One of the most active vote suppressors in Wisconsin is its Attorney General, J. B. Van Holland, who is appealing to restore the racist Voter ID law in time for the November elections.

    http://www.piercecountyherald.com/event/article/id/47651/group/News/

As Walker’s legal enabler and apologist, Van Holland has violated his oath of office and the laws of the United States in my opinion by attempting to deny 300,000 Wisconsin citizens, many of them African-Americans and Hispanics in addition to the elderly, the disabled, and the poor, the right to vote.

Where is Van Holland’s morality, conscience, a sense of justice and fairness?

Why does Van Holland only serve the political interests of the Republican party?

Why does Van Holland differentiate against people of color, the old, the infirm, and the poor by attempting to deny them the right to vote?

Shame on you Mr Attorney General; your name will go down in history as an oppressor of those citizens in most need of justice and who failed them and Wisconsin.

J.B. Van Holland, you are unworthy of the office you hold.

  5. CAN ANYONE SAY YADIRA COLON PLEASE C-CAP THIS. HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF VOTER FRAUD. IN SMALL LOCAL ELECTIONS IT MATTERS. BY THE WAY IT IS CHEATING……

  6. If we say Yadira Colon, southsider, we also have to say Mitt Romney, Thaddeus McCotter, and Catherine Coulter. Yadira Colon, included, legitimate voter fraud in this country is statistically so minute, it is ridiculous. Showing a spotlight on the fraction of a percent that exists doesn’t justify coordinated voter suppression designed to effect single-party rule. And that’s precisely what the GOP voter suppression effort is designed to do. GW Bush’s DOJ didn’t find any evidence of voter fraud over a period of three decades, and in the last decade the Republican Association of Lawyers found legitimate voter fraud to occur at a whopping .7% a year. Not even a fraction of the number that would be disenfranchised by voter suppression laws, and voter suppression laws don’t even address the real-world circumstances where voter fraud has occurred.

Election fraud and election rigging are the actual logistical issues that threaten election integrity in this country. Tirades about voter fraud, purging voter rolls, discouraging voter turnout – all Anti-American pursuits. What we need is more voter participation not less.

We need to secure equal access to the ballot, not create more barriers to it. And we need legislation or a Constitutional Amendment that states, unequivocally, that anyone who seeks to disenfranchise another in this country loses their voting rights permanently: all members of ALEC, True the Vote, etc. and all other fascist operations of their ilk pushing voter suppression laws, including all lawmakers who have enacted voter suppression laws – all should be permanently barred from the polls.

  7. How about slopy Kathy in Waukaushaw, what she did is major voter fraud. and K is still in office. without K. Joann Klopenburg would have won and we wouldn’t have the disfunction of choking, name calling, and ect… in our surpreme court. Your taxes at work. shame! Thanks Blog for the oppurtunity to vent.

  8. This story can’t be true because you have been saying for years that voter fraud just doesnt happen.

    1. And the Republican wife of a Republican lawmaker proved me wrong.

However, it’s worth noting that “Voter ID” laws wouldn’t have stopped the type of fraud alleged, which didn’t occur in person, but by mail.

      Thanks for playing!
