Republican Jacob Dorsey drops Assembly campaign after racially charged YouTube comments uncovered

On Tuesday I wrote about Republican Assembly candidate Jacob Dorsey, who in December 2013 posted a tweet referring to gays as “fags” in response to a U.S. Circuit court ruling. At the time I noted Dorsey had apologized but had also protected his Twitter feed from prying eyes, and apparently that was because he had also used racially inappropriate language on YouTube.

After the latest revelations against Dorsey, he announced he had dropped out of the race in the 44th Assembly district, though he will remain on the ballot in November.

A candidate for Wisconsin Assembly who acknowledged posting “hurtful” comments about gays and other “insensitive remarks” on social media accounts has dropped out of the race, according to the Janesville Gazette.

Jacob Dorsey, a Republican candidate for the 44th Assembly District, used derogatory terms against blacks and gays in posts on YouTube and Twitter, according to the Gazette.

The 19-year-old, who was running against Rep. Deb Kolste, D-Janesville, issued an apology last week after bloggers discovered a December post on Twitter about a ruling in support of same-sex marriage in Utah that included a derogatory term.
