Why won’t Molly McGartland debate Chris Sinicki?

In the interest of allowing residents of the 20th State Assembly district to have an opportunity to hear from the two candidates for that office – incumbent Democratic Rep. Chris Sinicki and her challenger Republican Molly McGartland – a resident of Cudahy who had previously organized/moderated candidate forums had attempted to organize a debate between Sinicki and McGartland.

While Rep. Sinicki was quick to agree to a debate without any special rules or conditions, the same can’t be said for Molly McGartland. According to the individual who was attempting to organize the debate, Molly McGartland would not agree to any debate with Rep. Sinicki unless the debate followed Molly McGartland’s rules. “It’s either by her rules, her way, or no,” was how Molly’s debate demands were described.

It’s disappointing that Molly McGartland won’t agree to a debate with Chris Sinicki, because the residents of the 20th Assembly district deserve an opportunity to hear each of the candidates articulate their beliefs and positions on the issues, so that the voters can make the most informed decision possible.

  1. What are the qualifications of this person who wanted to moderate the debate? What are her political affiliations? Where was the debate to be held? I do not see very much information on this. Is the quote you used a direct quote from Molly or the person who was running the debate. I would like to see Molly’s actual reason for not agreeing to the debate. This seems a bit slanted to me. To put in quotes words that were not Molly’s seems to be very misleading. Plese comment further on this and address my questions and concerns about this blog. I can see by this why Molly may not have agreed to the debate. This moderator seems a bit unprofessional, in assuming Molly’s reasons….but not giving a direct quote.

I would love to hear a response to this. Thank you.

    1. The person who attempted to organize the debate has organized several previous candidate forums in Cudahy, and I’ve not heard of any complaints about the way those forums were organized or run.

The quote was a direct quote from the person who attempted to organize the debate, and it was pertaining to Molly’s demands in order to agree to a debate. There’s nothing misleading about the quote; it was never attributed to Molly, but rather to the person who attempted to organize the debate.

Further, I had no part at all in attempting to organize the debate, so my own personal biases aren’t at issue. However, I would note this is part of a trend on the part of Molly, given that she cancelled her scheduled WisconsinEye interview just hours before it was supposed to happen.

      1. Well it appears to me that this Moderator does have some bias. If she explained that Molly said it was her way or no way. I would think a fair moderator would use an actual quote from Molly, not give her opinion on what she “felt” Molly was saying. I think this was unprofessional of her, and would question her ability to be objective during a debate.

From my understanding she moderated one debate. If I am wrong, please correct me.

          1. Well again…I ask what her qualifications are? So are you saying that a candidate does not have the right to know this info? So whomever wants to run a debate….the candidates are just obligated to accept no matter what?
By her statements she seems unprofessional. I would like to know why she felt Molly implied it was her way or no way. You give half a story, based on non facts. What did Molly really say? If the potential moderator cannot give that info, she is not qualified to run a debate!!!

            1. I gave a story based on the information I had, and while you want to denigrate the person who attempted to organize the debate in your haste to defend Molly, the fact is that this same person had NEVER had any complaints from any candidate or elected official regarding her handling of previous candidate forums/debates.

If Molly was so eager to debate, why hasn’t she agreed to a debate?

Personally, I’d love to be able to ask her some questions at a public forum, because I’d love to ask her about why she decided to engage in personal attacks against Rep. Sinicki after saying at the Republican candidate forum that she wanted to keep the race focused on the issues.

              1. I would love for you to ask her questions and get the response in her words. She will be available Thurs….maybe you should stop in. You have every right to ask her questions.
I would like to see a debate myself. But like I said, maybe Molly had a reason not to want this person as a moderator. I am not defending Molly. I just feel that the moderators quote was unprofessional. I would like to know what Molly said as to why she chose not to take part in this debate offer, not this person’s feelings. FACTS PLEASE!
Don’t you feel if you are writing a blog, it should contain facts? Did you contact Molly?

                1. Nothing expressed by the blog was not fact or concerns based on facts. You are the one with insinuations about unfair assessments being made, quit trolling the blog, go out on Thurs, step out of your, “information welfare Cadillac,” quit demanding information handouts, ask those people and then come back with the facts you think are being ignored here and report them.

                  1. These are not facts: According to the individual who was attempting to organize the debate, Molly McGartland would not agree to any debate with Rep. Sinicki unless the debate followed Molly McGartland’s rules. “It’s either by her rules, her way, or no,” was how Molly’s debate demands were described.
This is what you present to people as facts…..
What is the point of your blog if not to inform voters of the truth? How am I “trolling” I assume you would welcome readers and comments.
The quote that you posted from the moderator makes her seem biased and unprofessional. I do not believe for one minute that was Molly’s attitude. I actually did seek out Molly’s side of the story. As should you before you post things like this!
I do not demand information handouts. I have talked many times with Molly and have also tried to talk with Christine.
I guess I thought your blog was meant to be informative, I will take note that it is not. Is it for entertainment purposes only?
