Woman shot by two-year-old son at Wal-Mart

Clearly the whole “More guns! More guns!” mantra we’ve heard from so many conservatives isn’t working.

A 2-year-old boy, sitting in a shopping cart at a Walmart in Hayden, Idaho, shot and killed his mother on Tuesday with a handgun from her purse, a spokesman for the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said in statement.

The mother, 29, was shopping with her son and several other family members when the accident occurred, the spokesman, Stu Miller, said. The son “was seated in the shopping cart and accessed the victim’s concealed weapon from her purse and discharged it, striking the victim.”

The shooting appeared to be accidental, Mr. Miller said. The mother, who was not identified, had a permit to carry a concealed weapon, according to media reports.

  1. Another tragic death involving a firearm, but we need to thoroughly examine this incident. We know that this mother’s unfortunate early death, absolutely did NOT happen as the result of the handgun being present.

What we have here is obviously another case of a lone, emotionally crazed and mentally unstable individual, ignored, left unattended for mere seconds while likely suffering from a chemically induced, physiological imbalance, withdrawal symptoms if you like, having just three days prior come face to face with the reality of his being weaned from his own mother’s milk.

Witnesses say the child appeared angry and distracted, frequent crying was heard from that isle as the child had apparently recognized a milk jug being removed from the dairy case and placed into the cart. Clear motive?

Had other individuals in the store been carrying and alert, there is an excellent chance the killer would have been stopped and this tragedy averted.

  2. Why is it always a male shooter, no matter what the age? I think I have heard of only one case where a little girl shot someone, whereas there are numerous cases where a little boy has shot a friend, brother, sister, parent, etc. Even by age 2 a boy has seen enough shootings on tv to be dazzled by a gun. Why aren’t little girls attracted to them as well?
