Congratulations, Zach, and to all the other progressives on BB.
I feel genuine joy at Bernier’s talernts and goals and will support him if Hillary does not prevail. We have a long way to go.
My impression after watching Sanders and Clinton’s speeches tonight is that Bernie says what he thinks and Hillary says what she thinks people want to hear.
Bernie genuinely seems to want to make some changes and Hillary genuinely seems to want to have her name in the history books as the first female president.
And I am saying this as a centrist whose personal politics are definitely closer to Clinton’s than to those of Sanders.
I realized i didn’t fill in my full name. I usually post as Dan
I think you’re spot on Dan. The one thing I don’t understand is why after losing so badly Clinton got more New Hampshire delegates than Sanders. I will concede that my source may be suspect here, so if the numbers are wrong correct me and I’ll be on my way. It just seems to me that the fix is in for Clinton.
Based on this: http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/268935-clinton-likely-to-leave-nh-with-same-number-of-delegates
it sounds like there are 6 of 8 “superdelegates” currently pledged to Hillary but it also sounds like that is by no means set in stone and they can and do change their minds.
It would be political suicide in my opinion for the D establishment to force Hillary on everyone if Bernie keeps winning states. I think if he genuinely loses he will gracefully step aside and support Clinton. But if he gets screwed over by the same establishment that he rails against in his speeches, I would fully expect him to run as an independent and sink the Democrats chances.
I agree that the “super delegate” condition or rule seems to suck, but we must remember that Bernie freely opted to run as a Democrat rather than as a Socialist or an Independent.
It was his choice to use the Dems’ party name for recognition and an advantage over other less favorable political affiliations. Or he could have run as a Republican as Trump chose to do.
