This is the envelope that contained a letter from the Democratic National Committee Chair, Tom Perez.
We Are Trump’s Worst Nightmare. I don’t want to be Trump’s worst nightmare intentionally. I want to get there incidentally. I don’t to ‘resist’ just for the sake of ‘resisting’. I don’t want the Democratic Party electeds in the House of Representatives and the Senate to take up the mantel of the Party of No. That would be very easy to do. It is a very attractive proposition. But it won’t accomplish much of anything.
I want the Democratic Party to be the party of alternatives to the GOP. I want the Democratic Party to be the party of alternatives to President Trump. But I want those to be real alternatives…not just resistance for the sake of resistance…and not just NO because we can.
Now the begging letter in this envelope says some very nice things about how Chairman Perez wants to revitalize the Democratic Party. How he wants to rebuild the party infrastructure. How he wants to invest in our future.
That’s all well and good…but let’s leave the scare tactic headlines out of it. Let’s just get to work. And let’s be very vocal about it…all day…everyday.
And if you want my money, I don’t respond well to negative themes…even by my allies. I just don’t.
btw: I have already sent in my renewal $$$…the check cleared. This is the second begging letter since I did that…get your records up to date.
That mailing was/is weak. The whole mentality of “they suck and are scary, give us money” has to get tossed. I don’t need to be reminded about the garbage GOPs are trying to pull. Step up and do something about it.
I thought it was much better when Perez said this week “Republicans don’t give a shit” about their voters. Mostly because it’s true, and also because it’s a message that needs to be repeated loud and clear by Dems so it’ll sink in to the voters. Both in DC and in Wisconsin. Because not giving a shit about what happens to the general public is worse than doing bad things that hurt a certain group.
My biggest beef is the false bravado. It’s the guy in the tavern hollering about what a bad-ass he is that’s the least feared. Whatever happened to ” speak softly and carry a big stick ” ?
In truth I think this type of B.S. actually helps Trump.
