Vietnam versus Puerto Rico

In Ken Burns’ film The Vietnam War, he shows film of material being delivered to reinforce the South Vietnam Army as the American troops are being withdrawn by President Richard Nixon. Thousands of tanks, trucks, jeeps, artillery pieces, etc are being unloaded in a country thousands of miles away from the United States…almost half way around the world.

Yet we can’t figure out the logistics to move the tons and tons of donated food and water to an island just a thousand miles away…to fellow American citizens. WTF is wrong with us?
