Vice President Mike Pence went on a tour of the Mayo Clinic’s coronavirus testing labs Tuesday.
He should be easy to spot in this photo:
Pence defended his refusal to follow the hospital’s policy later Tuesday.
“As vice president of the United States I’m tested for the coronavirus on a regular basis, and everyone who is around me is tested for the coronavirus,” he told reporters. “Since I don’t have the coronavirus, I thought it’d be a good opportunity for me to be here, to be able to speak to these researchers these incredible healthcare personnel and look them in the eye and say thank you.”
Fuckin’ idiot. The masks have two purposes…one is to prevent you giving someone else COVID-19 (which you can do while asymptomatic) and then to guard against getting it from someone else. So your current testing may show that you didn’t have it when you left for Minnesota but there is no guarantee that you didn’t leave Rochester without it.
AND ignoring the health risk or no…the visual is unforgivable. The Vice President just gave the re-open fanatics, the coronavirus conspiracy theorists, and the deep state hoax adherents the sense that this isn’t real. And all of us are reminded that the White House isn’t taking this seriously and that American lives just don’t really matter.
