Remember that “special announcement” Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker had planned for Tuesday, April 28? Well apparently, Scott Walker couldn’t wait to make the “special announcement,” instead choosing to use Twitter and Facebook to announce that he’ll run for governor in 2010. Walker’s announcements on Twitter and Facebook have to be some of the most underwhelming and un-shocking I’ve ever seen from a politician, and announcing on Twitter and Facebook is far from “special.”
I can understand why Scott Walker announced his candidacy prematurely, given the buzz surrounding the possible candidacy of former Congressman Mark Neumann, but yesterday’s “announcement” was ham-handed at best, and considering how hard Walker and his people have worked to build momentum for his 2010 gubernatorial campaign, it’s a disappointing momentum killer.
